California Schemin'

The American rap duo Silibil N' Brains is riding high in Great Britain, recording albums, scoring numerous hits, and opening for none other than Eminem. Nothing seems capable of destroying their success, except the truth… The rappers from California turn out to be two Scottish friends from Dundee who fabricated their American accents to elevate their image. Their friendship is put to the test when their cool façade cracks.

This musical biopic is the directorial debut of James McAvoy, best known as an actor (‘X-Men’, ‘The Chronicles of Narnia’, ‘The Last King of Scotland’). ‘California Schemin’' is based on the bizarre true story of friends Gavin Bain and Billy Boyd. The world premiere took place at the Toronto International Film Festival.
