Eva leads a quiet life in a small village on the North West coast, where she is a popular teacher at a local high school and is married to the local mayor. Her orderly world is disrupted when she meets the 18-year-old Amir that results in an unexpected connection between the young asylum seeker with a talent for poetry and a middle-aged woman. Their mutual affection grew into a forbidden relationship, with far-reaching consequences for both of them. Gradually, an unequal power dynamic unfolds, blurring the line between naivety and exploitation.

With her debut film ‘Don't Call Me Mama’, the Norwegian director Nina Knag created a subtle psychological drama. For her role as Eva, Pia Tjelta won the Crystal Globe for Best Actress at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival.
