Follies (Folichonneries)

François and Julie have been married for sixteen years and have two children together. Unfortunately, their relationship has fallen into a rut, prompting them to try an experiment. In search of new excitement, they open up their relationship. They are now permitted to explore connections with new partners and utilize swiger apps. What begins with a well-intentioned quest quickly turns into an emotional rollercoaster full of misunderstanding, doubt, and jealousy. Will their desire for each other be rekindled?

This modern romcom is the feature film debut for writer-director Éric K. Boulianne, who stars as François. Through a series of comical scenes and honest dialogues, ‘Follies’ explores whether freedom can actually be combined with parenthood and mutual trust. The film had its world premiere at the Locarno Film Festival.
