In this hybrid documentary, the Ministry of Not Forgetting, a fictitious new government agency, investigates how an icon is remembered. Their first test subject: Marianne Faithfull. The officials, played by Tilda Swinton and George MacKay, believe that her memory could use some tweaking. After all, this highly acclaimed singer is an important cultural icon, but is often described solely as Mick Jagger's muse.
Marianne Faithfull worked intensively on this film with Jane Pollard and Iain Forsyth until shortly before her death in January 2025. There are also a few supporting roles for Nick Cave and Warren Ellis. The result is a quirky but intimate portrait of an inimitable rebel.
