In the tumultuous 1970s, Tony Kiritsis (Bill Skarsgård) pursues his American Dream: he buys a piece of land. But when he can no longer repay his loan, he suspects his mortgage broker, Richard Hall, of shady dealings. And he wasn’t entirely wrong. On February 8, 1977, Tony walks into Richard’s office with a sawed-off gun. He walks out with Richard at gunpoint and a ‘dead man’s wire’ around his neck. TV reporters are immediately on the scene and broadcast the whole hostage situation live. This historical crime film by the legendary Gus Van Sant (‘My Own Private Idaho’, ‘Elephant’) premiered at the Venice Film Festival and has already won awards at film festivals in Chicago and Miami.
