Primavera

18th-century Venice offers few chances for Cecilia, who grows up in the Ospedale della Pietà. She is a talented violinist, but when she performs for benefactors and sponsors, she must always stay behind a curtain or a wall. Her only way out of this sacred house, run by strict nuns, seems to be an arranged marriage. But when the institution hires an ambitious composer as her new teacher, Cecilia's life takes a drastic turn. After all, the composer is Antonio Vivaldi.

‘Primavera’ is based on the novel ‘Stabat Mater’ by Tiziano Scarpa and on the life of Vivaldi, who was a priest and taught for almost thirty years at the Ospedale della Pietà. The impressive costume drama premiered at the film festival in Toronto.
