The decision has been made: Ane and Thomas are getting divorced. But when Thomas is ready to move in with his new girlfriend and they are about to tell their children the news, Ane has a stroke. Thomas decides to become her primary caregiver - at least for now. Together, they navigate new daily routines defined by physical limitations and suppressed emotions. Ane’s challenging recovery and Thomas’ reluctance paves the way for a new, unexpected bond. Can an ending also be a new beginning?

The Danish director Jeanette Nordahl (‘Wildland’) based the film on a true story from her own parents. She gently and intimately portrays a crucial turning point in someone’s life. The leading roles are for Trine Dyrholm (‘Festen’) and David Dencik (‘The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo’, ‘Chernobyl’). ‘Beginnings’ premiered at the Berlin Film Festival.
