The Good Daughter (La buena hija)

Since her parents’ divorce, Carmela has lived with her mother and grandmother. She misses her father, whom she idolizes. He is a charming, successful artist, but he also has a volatile temper. His aggressive outbursts towards her mother earned him a restraining order. Carmela cannot see her father without the supervision of a social worker. The teenager struggles to accept her new family situation, but feels misunderstood at home and at school. She wants to be a loyal, good daughter, but at what cost?

This moving coming-of-age drama is the second film of the Catalan director Júlia de Paz Solvas. This Belgian co-production is a tender and powerful testament to youthful resilience.
