In the year 1943, World War II is in full swing in France. Neighbouring Spain is ruled with an iron fist by dictator Franco. The Pyrenees form an impenetrable border between the two worlds, or so it seems. As a small act of resistance, officer Manel offers safe passage to Jews trying to flee the Nazi regime in France. He is assisted in this by fellow villager Juliana and smuggler Jérôme (played by Kevin Janssens). But when their network is in danger of being discovered, they realize that they are in danger.
‘Frontera’ is based on true events and was directed by Catalan filmmaker Judith Colell. The film is a Spanish-Belgian co-production about solidarity in times of war and the price for moral courage, especially when your own life is about to fall down.
